What to expect:
- Guided Instruction: Learn valuable techniques from experienced artists. Get tips on capturing proportions, using light and shadow, and adding details that bring your portraits to life.
- Skill-Sharing Circle: Share your own knowledge and experiences with fellow sketchers. Offer constructive critiques and gain valuable insights from others.
- Material Showcase: Explore a variety of drawing materials – pencils, charcoals, drawing papers – and discover what works best for your style.
This Community Meet is your chance to:

- Experiment with different techniques: Try new shading methods, explore hatching and cross-hatching, and find your artistic voice.

Come prepared to:
- Bring your favourite drawing materials (pencils, sketchbook, etc.).
- Feel free to experiment with different mediums – charcoal, conte crayons, or even coloured pencils!

About The Host
Jeff Lai surprises commuters with his detailed, real-time portraits. Fuelled by a passion ignited in school art classes, Lai embarks on artistic adventures on trains, using his limited tools to capture strangers in fleeting moments. Overcoming his fear of interacting with passengers, Lai finds joy in these connections, transforming train rides into unexpected artistic encounters and leaving a lasting impression on both the artist and his surprised recipients.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds are not available for participants who choose to withdraw from the workshop after registration. However, Overjoyed reserves the right to amend or cancel the workshop at any time. In the event of a workshop cancellation by Overjoyed, all registered participants will receive a full refund and prior notification.Event Time and Cancellation
TASA Gallery reserves the right to modify the event time or cancel the event in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Participants will be notified promptly of any changes or cancellations.- Minimum Participation Requirement
A minimum of participants is required for the workshop to proceed. In the case of cancellation due to insufficient registration, paid participants will be notified at least 1 day in advance and will receive a full refund. - Cleanliness Responsibility
To ensure a pleasant experience for all future participants, we kindly request that all workshop attendees cooperate in keeping the event space clean and tidy after use. Photography and Video Recording Consent
