Kueh Watercolor Painting With James Lim (Materials Not Included) (Location - Singapore Maritime Gallery)

Registrations are closed

This workshop is a guided, beginner-friendly watercolour workshop held at the Singapore Maritime Gallery in celebration of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s 30th anniversary. Participants will be led step by step through the process of painting traditional kueh using watercolour, making the session accessible even to those with no prior painting experience. Kueh, made primarily from rice, carries deep cultural significance and is closely linked to Singapore’s maritime trade routes, making it a meaningful and fitting subject for this commemorative programme. All art materials are provided, allowing participants to focus fully on learning, observing, and enjoying the painting experience in a relaxed and supportive setting.

About The Subject

Kueh, made from rice flour, puts a spotlight on rice as an import to Singapore via the maritime trade routes, and is a staple in the cuisine of many ethnic cultures. We celebrate kueh in this workshop, as a symbol of the varied cultural influences that Singapore's early immigrants brought to our shores.
