Monochrome Wildlife In Pastel - Kingfisher With Audrey Ng
A Monochrome Wildlife in Pastel workshop focusing on the kingfisher is an engaging opportunity to explore tonal drawing and expressive rendering through a single colour palette. Guided by artist Audrey Ng, participants will learn how to capture the elegance, structure, and character of the kingfisher, translating its vivid form into a refined monochrome pastel study that emphasises light, shadow, and texture.
The session begins with an introduction to monochrome pastel techniques and the importance of tonal values in building depth and dimension. Participants will be guided in selecting reference imagery, sketching proportions accurately, and establishing a strong composition. Through step-by-step demonstrations, Audrey will share methods for layering, blending, and controlling pressure to create smooth transitions and realistic feather textures while maintaining clarity in key features such as the eyes and beak.
As the artwork develops, attention is placed on refining contrast and enhancing detail to bring the kingfisher to life within a unified tonal range. Participants will learn how to evaluate their work, adjust values, and achieve a polished finish while maintaining softness and harmony. All materials, including high-quality pastels, paper, and blending tools, are provided for participants to bring home their completed artwork after the session.
About The Artist
Audrey Ng’s journey with Pastel Nagomi Art (PNA) is an incredible testament to the power of passion and dedication. As a stay-at-home mom in January 2016, she sought to find fulfillment and purpose at home, and her life took a transformative turn when she discovered Pastel Nagomi Art through a close friend.
Within just three months of immersing herself in PNA, Audrey honed her skills and became a master of the art form. Eager to share the beauty and therapeutic benefits of PNA with others, she embarked on a journey of conducting numerous home and corporate workshops. Her workshops became a source of joy, inspiration, and creativity for participants, creating a positive impact on their lives.
