Singapore Food In Watercolor With Lenard Lai
Singapore's National Day SPECIALS! What better way to celebrate this joyous month than to paint our national pride - FOOD! This is a simple journaling style watercolor workshop covering some of the most iconic Singapore local food! We'll learn about some basic watercolor application techniques (eg. wet-on-wet, layering, color mixing etc); and there will also be a trace-sheet so you don't have to worry if you're a beginner!This workshop will use simple explaining methods and is suitable for beginners to intermediate. So don't be shy, join us and indulge in the joy of painting food this Sunday! (We will cover 2-3 food minimum, or more depending on students' progress).
P/S: Students will only paint 2-3 subjects (or more, based on class progress). The rest can be done as homework
About The Subject
This subject explores Singapore’s rich food culture by showcasing a selection of its most iconic dishes. It features the fragrant nasi lemak with its coconut rice and spicy sambal, the savory otak-otak wrapped in banana leaves, and the comforting half-boil eggs paired with kaya toast and kopi-o. The vibrant ice kachang offers a refreshing contrast with its colorful array of sweet toppings, while the smoky, marinated satay provides a flavorful finish. Capturing the vivid colors and textures of these dishes, this subject celebrates the diverse and delightful essence of Singapore’s culinary heritage.
About The Artist
Lenard Lai (aka Drawplet) is a “hungry artist” and a watercolor teacher who specializes in food illustration. He boasts a wide portfolio of realistic food paintings because he believes that food is a universal language across all communities.
