Sourdough In Watercolor With Lenard Lai

Registrations are closed

Learn how to paint yummy sourdough bread with food illustrator, Drawplet! This session will focus on creating fine-powdery textures with watercolour, specifically on sourdough. The same method can be applied on a range of powdered pastries! Meanwhile, fundamental watercolor techniques (eg. wet-on-wet, flat wash, layering) will also be explained to help students understand and apply the right techniques for the best results. This workshop will use simple explaining methods and is suitable for beginners to intermediate. So don't be shy, join us and indulge in the joy of dessert-painting this Sunday! P/S: Only 1-2 sourdough bread will be painted in class due to time constraints, the rest can be completed as homework.

About The Subject
Sourdough bread, known for its tang and chewy texture, uses a natural leavening agent – a bubbly starter cultivated from flour and water. This slow fermentation process unlocks potential health benefits, creates a distinctive flavour, and allows the starter to be used for various treats, making sourdough a rewarding journey for bakers of all levels.

About The Artist

Lenard Lai (aka Drawplet) is a “hungry artist” and a watercolor teacher who specializes in food illustration. He boasts a wide portfolio of realistic food paintings because he believes that food is a universal language across all communities. He is also a featured artist of Daniel Smith and brand ambassador of Sakura Color Products. See @drawpletmy on instagram or facebook for more yummy looking artwork!

The name “Draw-ple-t” is an abbreviation of “drawing-people-together”. Drawplet was founded in hope to use art as a medium to connect people, to help us realize that we, like tiny droplets, have the potential to create huge ripples of positivity to those around us and beyond!
