Traveler's Sketch Accordion Journal In Watercolor With Jeffrey Yap
Create a flowing visual story in a unique fanfold sketchbook format
Join artist Jeffrey Yap for an immersive workshop on creating a travel journal using an accordion (fanfold) sketchbook. This panoramic format offers a dynamic canvas for storytelling, allowing your vacation sketches to unfold as one continuous visual narrative.
Jeffrey will guide participants through the creative potential of this long-format approach, sharing insights on planning layouts, connecting scenes, and maintaining flow across pages. He will explain the difference between working in a traditional sketchbook and the accordion format, and how to use that distinction to your advantage.
During the workshop, Jeffrey will share practical tips on choosing the right paper, selecting suitable media, and structuring your journal to tell a progressive, engaging story. He'll also offer clever, hands-on tricks to help you avoid common sketching pitfalls and introduce fresh perspectives to transform ordinary travel moments into compelling visuals.
Through live demonstrations using liquid charcoal/graphite and watercolor, Jeffrey will explore the interaction between media and show how to give your travel sketches depth, energy, and emotional punch.
This session is designed to help you see your sketchbook not just as a collection of drawings, but as a continuous, unfolding journey—one page at a time.
