Under Raymond's Expertise, You'll Learn to:

🎨 Watercolor Foundations

Strengthen your understanding of essential watercolor techniques such as color mixing, brushwork control, and wet-on-wet washes—skills that are crucial whether you're painting a single portrait or an entire city square.

🧠 Anatomy for Artists

Build a confident grasp of human proportions and facial structure. Learn to simplify complex features, making it easier to place people into scenes—accurately and expressively.

✍️ Building a Lifelike Face

Step-by-step guidance through rendering the human face—eyes, nose, mouth, and expression. These micro-skills are the building blocks for both detailed portraits and impressionistic urban figures.

🌆 People in Place: Urban Sketching with a Human Touch

Learn how to add life to city scenes by skillfully inserting figures into cafes, crosswalks, parks, or architectural environments. Discover techniques for gesture drawing, scale adjustment, and posing that make your urban landscapes feel authentic and alive.

🌲 Figures in Nature: Framing the Human Form in a Landscape

Explore how to integrate people into broader nature sketches—whether it's a lone hiker on a mountain path or a group resting under trees. You'll develop techniques to frame figures within environments, maintain perspective, and use scale and color to suggest depth and atmosphere.

🎭 Capturing Character and Mood

Use light, shadow, and color to breathe life into your figures—whether close-up or distant. Emphasize posture, silhouette, and subtle expressions to convey personality and narrative, even in loosely rendered sketches.

🖌️ Advanced Watercolor Techniques

Take your work to the next level with sophisticated methods like layering, glazing, and negative painting—ideal for developing portraits that both blend into and stand out from the surrounding environment.

🧑‍🎨 Suitable for All Levels
