David is a well-loved biblical figure, for good reason. After all, who doesn't appreciate a good underdog story? Through his life we can see ourselves, flaws and all, and still have hope that everything will turn out well. Unlike in most movies though, it wasn't David's pluckiness, hard work or innate talent that brought him success. Nope, his secret was that he knew the Lord. Goliath might have been a giant, but David's covenant partner was waaaay bigger. Throughout David's life, Almighty God was watching his back, fighting his battles and training and equipping him to eventually become the king of Israel.
