DISCOVER Urban Landscape In Watercolor By TASA
DISCOVER Urban Landscape
By TASA | Sketching the City with Watercolor Painting
Step into the heart of the city with DISCOVER Urban Landscape by TASA—a hands-on art workshop that encourages participants to observe, interpret, and capture their surroundings through drawing and painting. Focusing on streetscapes, architecture, and everyday scenes, this session invites students to see familiar places in a fresh, artistic light.
Guided by TASA’s experienced artist-facilitators, participants will learn key principles of urban landscape sketching, including perspective, composition, and spatial depth. Using ink and watercolour or dry media, they will explore how to simplify complex buildings and structures while still conveying mood and atmosphere. The workshop may be held indoors using photo references or outdoors on-location (plein air), depending on the setting.
This experience blends technical skill with creative expression—ideal for nurturing observation, patience, and personal style.
What the Workshop Covers:
– Introduction to urban landscape art and sketching styles
– Basics of perspective, proportion, and layout
– Capturing architectural forms, textures, and street details
– Applying light, shadow, and colour for depth and mood
– Completion of an A5 or A4 artwork of an urban scene
Educational Value:
Urban landscape sketching promotes visual awareness, spatial understanding, and creative interpretation. It supports learning goals in both art and geography by encouraging students to engage deeply with their environment and express it visually.
Suitable For:
Upper primary to post-secondary students, or any learner interested in developing their drawing skills through place-based art.
By the end of the session, each participant will have created a personalised view of the urban environment—an artwork that documents both a place and a moment through their own eyes.
